Basic Food Safety Requirements Overview

Please note. No one offers basic food safety training that is universally recognized in all states. A few states (Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Illinois, Texas, Utah & Florida) have statewide food safety requirements. Elsewhere, there are counties and some municipalities that have specific requirements. Unfortunately, each jurisdiction will rarely honor another jurisdiction's course.

You should also keep in mind that training requirements may be different based upon your specific job function. Your job may be excluded from local food rules.

Each eFoodhandlers state site provides some basic food safety requirements information in the respective Course Overview page. If you are still unsure as to which training is appropriate for your locality or job, you should contact your local environmental health department.

Also be aware that eFoodhandlers may not own each site belonging to the eFoodhandlers Network, but those sites agree to work together to expand access to food safety.
